Guitar sale in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK

Friends of Settle Music has asked us to help  them sell three left handed guitars to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Fenix Stratocaster – 1990’s

From the web -

The brand starts back in the late 1980s, when the established South Korean musical instrument manufacturer Young Chang was awarded a contract to make Fender’s budget end Squier guitars. And Young Chang did indeed manufacture those Squier guitars. But that’s not all it did. At the end of July 1989, the British Music Fair was introduced to a new range of guitars from a brand new name: Fenix. And Fenix was, to all intents and purposes, Squier – but better, and cheaper. The Young Chang company had, among other things, taken its own, Fender-endorsed build of the best-selling Squier Stratocaster, replaced the plywood body with solid alder, tinkered slightly with the headstock, and pitched in with an ‘own brand’ price.

General -

A nice looking guitar with quite a good pedigree.  We’ve seen early Fender Squiers and Bullets and they are still good playable instruments.  As this is an improved model, the could be quite desirable.  There are Fenix instruments being advertised elsewhere on the net for circa £250.

CSL Custom Les Paul copy. – circa 1970s

From Guitar List website. -

The CSL brand name was used on guitars distributed in the UK by Summerfield Brothers of Gateshead England. CSL stands for Charles Summerfield Limited. CSL guitars were made during the 1970s in the FujiGen Gakki factory in Matsumoto Japan.

FujiGen made many guitars for other brands including Ibanez, Fender, Yamaha and Greco. CSL instruments were typically copies of popular American models including electric and acoustic guitars as well as basses by Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker.

The CSL company was wound up in 1993.

General -

These seem to have a good reputation and the recommendation is that they “are worth a try”.  Several examples of similar guitars are advertised at around £250.

Nylon Strung Acoustic -

There are no labels, marks or codes on this guitar and the seller thinks that it may well have been custom made as a one off.

An interesting looking guitar with a slightly oval sound hole and wider than normal body that suggests it may have a little age to it and be quite a special guitar.  (The only other oval sound hole guitars we have encountered are for gypsy jazz guitars).

The electric guitars are offered for £150 each for a quick sale but if you interested in both the seller is prepared to do both for £250 and will include the acoustic guitar too.

A most interesting instrument - a Konso Kora has arrived and is being offered at circa £290.

This is a 20 string African harp like instrument and this example is a professional quality instrument with no cracks or damage (which can often be seen on cheaper tourist quality instruments)
